We saw an opportunity to bring storytelling, trend, and elevated craft into the category—and over time, it changed everything. From hand-painted vessels to unexpected scent pairings, we leaned into artistic expression and design-led thinking to create collections that felt more like objets d’art than products. Every launch was a chance to experiment, stretch the medium, and design for the Anthropologie guest’s unique sense of style and ritual. It wasn’t just about what it looked like. It was about how it made you feel.

ILLUME’s partnership with Anthropologie dates back 30 years—but under April’s leadership, the business grew 4x and became a cornerstone of the retailer’s home fragrance assortment. As the design and product development lead, she oversaw all aspects of the creative partnership—driving seasonal assortments, trend direction, exclusive collaborations, and packaging design. Her work helped transform the category from transactional to expressive, blending artistry with commercial appeal and deepening ILLUME’s status as a long-term strategic partner.
